Mom Hack: Make Fall Harvest Purees For Your Baby

With the fall harvest comes a delicious assortment of just picked apples and pears. There are so many different varieties of apples and pears available this time of year such as Gravenstein and Jonagold apples or Concorde or French Butter Pears. You can let your baby try different flavors by making apple and pear purees.

  1. Use one big apple or pear. Or use 1/2 of a big apple and 1/2 a pear if you want to make a combination puree.

  2. Wash the fruit well in running water and peel the skin off.

  3. Cut into equal sized small cubes.

  4. Steam the pieces in a steamer for 10-12 minutes. Or put a little water in a pot and use a steamer insert. The fruit should be soft and transparent. A fork will go through easily when done.

  5. You can mash it or puree smooth in a blender. Add a little water if needed.

  6. Let your baby enjoy!
