We are proud to share that last month Healthy Horizons won the Stevie Award for most valuable corporate response to COVID-19. This was a part of the 17th Stevie Awards for Women in Business: "Most Valuable Corporate Response" to COVID-19.
This award was created to honor the contributions of individual women and women-led organizations that have worked valiantly over the past months to keep our community safe, healthy, employed, and informed.
“Necessity is the mother of invention” became words filled with new meaning for our CEO Sheila Janakos and COO Cassi Janakos. When the COVID-19 crisis struck, we created new lifelines that ensured breastfeeding moms, their babies, and the Healthy Horizons staff stayed healthy and felt cared for.
Proud to be a women-owned business, we consistently embrace our mission to empower nursing mothers at work and at home. As local hospitals were battling the pandemic, new mothers were discharged without receiving the lactation support they needed. To help moms weigh their newborns accurately during the critical first weeks, our team personally delivered hospital-grade baby scales to moms in need. We also delivered breastpumps — using safe, no-contact procedures — and worked weekends, evenings, and whenever help was needed.
Overnight, Healthy Horizons went fully virtual with advisory services. We expanded our offering of personal video consultations with board-certified lactation consultants on secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms for the complete privacy of patients. More breastfeeding moms were working from home with their babies, so we set up free educational webinars and online support groups.
Pandemic or not, we at Healthy Horizons do our best to give breastfeeding moms and families a sense of belonging when they are at their most vulnerable.
